When we arrived on Sunday, it was National day at Malta so there wasn't much to do because almost everything was closed. We decided to go explore the area we're living in and it really helped us to get through the culture shock. We're living almost in the middle of the island and the area is called Attard.
Milla just trying to get in to our apartment.
Our street.
Few pictures from around Attard.
Every house is unique.
After our tour we met our roommates, three Italian girls. They were really nice and friendly. Also upstairs lives more students and we met one of them a girl from Latvia. She showed us a way to the nearest supermarket. By the way cheapest wine costs 1,79€.
The second day we went to eat to this lovely Italian place called Saracino's cafe. Prices were pretty cheap (at least when you compared to Finland). Every food on the menu sounded delicious but we chose chicken panini and it was REALLY good.
In the cafe while we were eating some older man called Norman came to our table and started asking questions like "where are you from" "Why you are here in this small place and not there where the clubs are". He told us the useful hints about Malta like must see places. That was the first time we got in touch with Maltese hospitality.
Both evenings we have been with our four classmates in Sliema. It is a endless beach boulevard full of restaurants, hotels and bars.
Examples of prices:
- Local beer 0,57€
- Bottle of wine 1,60-7,00€
- Buss ticket for a week 6,50€
- Buss ticket for 30 days (adult) 26€
The lack of the prices is because we haven't bought almost anything else... yet...
Best regards,
Milla & Heidi
